Recruitment

Help shape the future of antimicrobial stewardship in Australian general practice.

Join the EASSI-PC Clinical Trial

EASSI-PC is a national multicentre research trial evaluating practical and sustainable approaches to antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) in general practice.

We are inviting general practices across Australia to participate in a study designed to support appropriate antibiotic prescribing and reduce unnecessary antibiotic use, while maintaining high-quality patient care.

The trial focuses on real-world strategies that are feasible in everyday clinical practice and aims to generate evidence to inform future AMS initiatives in primary care.

Why participate?

By joining the EASSI-PC Clinical Trial, your practice will:

  • Contribute to important Australian primary care research aimed at improving antibiotic prescribing
  • Help reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and combat antimicrobial resistance
  • Access practical antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) tools to support evidence-based prescribing
  • Receive an AUD $1,000 one-off payment for the participating practice
  • Receive complimentary access to Therapeutic Guidelines (eTG) for all participating GPs during the trial
  • Enable participating GPs to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points

Who can participate?

We are recruiting general practices across four Australian states: Queensland (QLD), New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), and South Australia (SA).

Practice eligibility

Practices may be eligible to participate if they:

  • Have one or more general practitioners (GPs) willing to participate in the study.
  • Use a supported electronic medical record (eMR) system: Best Practice or MedicalDirector.
  • Are willing to share de-identified prescribing data via their eMR system.
  • Authorise access to dispensing and consultation data from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) through Services Australia.

Exclusion criteria

Practices are not eligible if they are currently involved in, or have participated in, antibiotic stewardship research within the previous two years.
